COALITION MEMBERS WITH MAYOR JIM GRAY... "We Choose A Brighter Future!"

THIS PARTNERSHIP INCLUDES:

Mayor’s Alliance on Substance Abuse:  The Mayor’s Alliance is an umbrella group open to anyone who wants to help mobilize and empower the community to address substance abuse.  Although it receives in-kind support through the Mayor’s Office, the Mayor’s Alliance has an independent board of directors.  It began in 1986 as part of Champions for a Drug-Free Kentucky.

Fayette County ASAP:  Fayette County ASAP was chartered in 2002 as part of KY-ASAP network, which is funded through tobacco settlement funds. Currently under the KY Office of Drug Control Policy, ASAP is designed as a policy-making organization. It is regulated by KY State Statute, with a maximum of 20 board members, and the board must include representation from designated community entities.

These two organizations collaborate, hold joint meetings, have a joint executive committee, share resources, and work together to plan, implement and evaluate programming to address this important issue.

Coalition Committees:

Bluegrass Regional Prevention Center:  Prevention specialists from Bluegrass Regional MHMR Board, Inc. provide educational resources, needs assessments, consultation and technical assistance in the development of effective “best practices” for prevention of underage alcohol and tobacco use as well as prevention of marijuana use and prescription drug misuse in the community.
